HWARANG: First impressions [1&2]

Just look at this picture, it took me awhile to realise that the female lead is not in it. So there are 6 gorgeous guys and from my understanding three are KPOP idols. The first being Taehyung (V) from BTS and then Minho from Shinee and Park Hyung Sik from the group ZE:A. I have also seen Park Seo Joon who is the lead male from his previous acting drama which I enjoyed such as She was Pretty, A Witches Romance and Kill me, Heal Me.  

The episode starts of in a comedic fashion introducing us to the lead and the funny Lee Kwang Soo. And is this them in their village before Lee Kwang charactor decides he wants to find his father and sister who are located in the capital. 

Before that we meet our favorite Adjussi (Sung Dong II) who is currently on another airing show called "The legend of the Blue Sea," which is quite funny. I am not quite sure if he will be good or evil because in the legend of the blue sea he is an evil murdering monster. 

Ah, our female lead makes her appearance telling a story to the folks in the capital. Her real name is Go Ara and this is the first time I am seeing her face. She was in reply 1994 but sadly that is the only reply series I haven't seen. 

She has beautiful eyes. (yes, their her real eye color, not contacts) but I do have to say during the first episode she didn't really wow me and I think it is more to do with the writing because I have a feeling that she is going to be made to seem like the damsel in distress that will need 6 guys to rescue her. 

Exhibit A.

From my understanding she gets drunk on an empty stomach during the day and we get the typical meeting, ques romantic music* and slow motion effects. But I do have to say I laughed when he dropped her. Twice and threw a shoe at her. 

First episode there's a lot of fighting and I liked the historical imitation of a club, of course Minho makes his appearance looking like a Westside story rumble. 

But who steals the episode for me and who I think will steal the show is Park Hyung Sik, long hair suits him so much. I never knew he was a such a good actor. I also prefer this scene when he grabs her from almost falling. (rolls eyes) It turns out he wanted her too tell her a story whilst he tried to sleep. 

At least, she is good at storytelling, hopefully that means she smart and can outsmart everyone else. 

The second episode is so sad. 

I just want to remember this smile. Honestly, that's it. I have still not recovered, it was too soon. 

Taehyung, finally makes his appearance on the show. To be honest he didn't really have that much screen time for me to say his amazing or his not at acting. But I think for a first drama this is good because as an Idol, I am guessing it is easy to get a big role because there will be so many of your fans who will watch even if the show sucks. But I think taking a role that is supporting as a first role is good and for little screen time he had. He did well. 

First Impressions of the show:

1. I will be carrying on so that I can see where this will go, the storyline has grabbed my attention.

2. Park Hyung Sik (where have you been hiding to give me second lead syndrome already) 

3. I am realising that I love historical drama's. I really like the setting and costumes of this one. So pretty. 

4. Lead female, doesn't wow me but she doesn't annoy me so I am happy with that.
