Completed Review- Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

I am so sad that this amazing show is finished. I just want re-watch everything all over again. It was just a perfect light-hearted show that I could enjoy no matter what.

Main Couple

What is this chemistry? Kim Bok Joo who is played by Lee Sung-Kyun (whom you might have seen in Cheese in the trap or Doctors) is female lead. This is a completely different role for her. She is not a B*tch who screams a lot. To be fair she does still scream a lot here but she plays a very likable character. Also, she is a model. Just like the male lead. (If you google either of their names a lot of their photo shoot pictures appear.)

Speaking of the male lead, it is none other than Nam Joo-Hyuk who plays Jung Joon Hyung. Nam Joo-Hyuk you might remember him again from Cheese in the trap, Who are you: School 2015 and Surplus Princess. He has also been in a couple music videos since he is a YG model. Very talented young man.

Leads Chemistry levels - Of the charts - He played a male role that was sweet and funny but also he didn't do the typical kdrama stuff that you always see. He said no a lot and it was very funny I just remember hearing Lil Jon's "WHAT!" She played the typical young girl role very well and when they are together it felt natural and there were fireworks. And I swear on the last episode I had to question if they were in a relationship because that chemistry was on fire. So cute, they had episodes that were of the chain with cuteness.

Humor - I had a couple of moments were I was laughing so hard that I couldn't breathe. 10 OUT OF 10 for the writers because they nailed it on the humor side of the story and also all the actors for doing an amazing job.

Storyline - It didn't have an intense story line or a lot of drama but it was more a cute romantic comedic drama. But the story line was interesting and at the end I realised how attached I had gotten to the characters and their stories just like in reply 1988. It was more of a story of growth from a girl to a woman and experiencing firsts in terms of crushes and relationships and also the portrayal of some issues that can affect athletes was brilliant.

The ending - The ending felt somewhat rushed but not too much, I felt as though it could have been 20 episodes but maybe that was because I enjoyed the drama that much. But the last 20 minutes were very sad because it made me fully realise how much I liked this drama. I will miss it.

Skips - I am not going to lie in the end I started to skip the doctors/ Nam Joo's older brothers romantic storyline because I really didn't care for it. It did not interest me at all. Even though he is a very good looking guy it just didn't grab my attention.

Rating - 9/10 I would definitely recommend it, very funny, entertaining and a light hearted drama to enjoy. I enjoyed this drama so much that I couldn't even wait until two episodes were out to watch the latest episode.
